About the Halifax Connector ProgramThe Greater Halifax Partnership's Connector Program simply focuses on putting newcomers directly in touch with employment opportunities via existing and professional networks. Through connection meetings, newcomers are able to explore current opportunities and gain valuable insight as to how their international skills can be applied in Greater Halifax. Connectors are recruited by the Partnership and asked to refer each participating newcomer professional to a minimum of three people in their networks. After this first round, each of these people will be encouraged to refer the newcomer to another three. It is the responsibility of the newcomer to follow-up and maintains these relationships, thus building a solid business network. Since the launch of the Connector Program in July 2009, we have been connecting immigrants to business leaders to help them expand their professional networks. Through connection meetings, referrals, or program support, 32 immigrants have now secured employment and are able to give back to the community. Download the brochure:

By connecting immigrants to local employers, they are able to gain a better understanding of how our economy works and what they can do to help with their job search. The Connection is a valuable experience, for some newcomers this may be their first time observing their profession practiced in Canada. There is so much value in having a conversation with a newcomer. It’s no secret, people go where there’s opportunity. The Connector Program helps people identify opportunities and seize them. By opening your door to a newcomer, you’ll reach across borders and find new opportunities together. |
