Does your business have a labour shortage? Are you prepared for this pending employee shortage? Be proactive and learn the process to bring highly skilled talent to your organization, talent from overseas.

The Immigration Employer Support Program was launched in 2007 as one of the three pillars of the Greater Halifax Partnership Talent Strategy. The program offers all of the necessary information required to help employers bring skilled workers into fill the organization's needs.

The goal of the program is to guide employers when they are planning to hire foreign workers and help them understand the different programs that exist at the Federal and Provincial level. The program also provides information on the Temporary Foreign Worker Program, a program from Service Canada. The Immigration Employer Support Program provides key knowledge that every employer should know.

“We're currently considering a role for someone from out of the country. Your comprehensive charts on our options for getting them into Canada were extremely enlightening. Congratulations on this excellent support for employers!”
Michael Scott, Chairman & CEO Precision BioLogic

The Immigration Employer Support Program offers One-on-One visits to anyone involved in hiring, including business owners, CEO’s, human resources professionals, recruitment personnel and managers from small, medium and large organizations. To learn about the immigration process you don’t have to leave your office. Our Account Executive, who is an immigrant herself, will schedule a visit to your workplace. After the initial meeting, you will feel more confident and better prepared to begin the process.

Employers can also learn about the process by attending by attending Immigration Information Sessions by Sector. These sessions are organized by the Greater Halifax Partnership in partnership with the Nova Scotia Office of Immigration, Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) - Temporary Foreign Worker Unit - and Service Canada.

How this program helps you

We can help get you started (and on your way) to hiring new talent!

Option 1: One-on-One Visit

This is what you can expect from Margie Casallas, our Account Executive- who has first hand experience of being an immigrant.

1.Listen to your needs and concerns. Our Account Executive will listen to you and explain to you the different immigration programs and explain the selection criteria.

2.Tell you your options. Based on your needs and concerns, you will have choices available to you. Immigration Programs, as well as their criterias, will be explained to you. Margie will provide you with a package with the forms and a list of the documentation required for each program. As a result you will have the confidence to determine what program better suits your business.

3.Connecting you to the right people. By the end of your visit, you will have key contact info at the Federal and Provincial level. The officers from these departments are ready to answer your particular questions and guide you in more detail through the process.

Having a One-on-One visit will inform you on the immigration service providers and their settlement programs for immigrants and how you can use those programs to assist you when you have immigrants working for you.

Option 2: Information Sessions by Sector (Temporary Foreign Worker Program and Immigration Programs)

By attending Immigration Information Sessions by Sectors, organized by our Account Executive, you will have the opportunity both to learn the process directly from the director of the immigration departments and if you have used the immigration process to share your own experiences with other employers from your own sector, or if you haven’t used it, to learn from those employers who already are seeing the benefits of hiring internationally trained workers.

Finally and most importantly, you don’t have to feel that you are alone since there are many organizations and resources ready to help you during the immigration process.
